Pre-World War II Dededo Village was located at the bottom of the Macheche Hill (Route 16) to the old San Miguel Brewery. After the destruction of the war, the Naval Government relocated the village to where it is presently known as Central Dededo.

After Super Typhoon Karen in 1962, most of the exciting wooden dwellings were totally destroyed. Through the efforts and leadership of the local government, the construction of the Kaiser Subdivision started to accomodate the much needed homes for the families throughout the island.

THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME
The word "DEDEDO" comes from a system of measurement using the fingers in which each finger signifying an inch. So as one measures "one inch, two inches, three inches", the name DEDEDO was derived from the measurement of two fingers indicating two inches.

There is another word that could possibly give this village its name. The word "dedeggo", which means- a person who walks on tiptoes so as not to wake up those who are sleeping.

It is not clear whether DEDEDO got its name because someone long ago measured the place with his/her fingers or the people habitually walked on tiptoes.
